Banff Pride began as a single-day celebration. Over the past 13 years, it has grown into a year-round community organisation and signature festival centred on 2SLGBTQ+ visibility in a small mountain town, where celebrating queer pride openly helps shape the community itself.

We’re working to shape Banff so it feels safe and genuinely welcoming for queer people. By strengthening community, advocating for inclusive hospitality, and building a culture that supports and protects everyone.

We celebrate queer life, break down barriers for visitors and locals, and push for lasting change so people can visit, work, and live here without needing to hide who they are.

We want Banff to be known across Canada and beyond as a world-class outdoor destination that leads in queer inclusion. Year-round, both residents and visitors experience a genuine sense of welcome, visible safety, and meaningful community.

Banff Pride will be a national model for how destination tourism and community care can coexist and thrive.

What we do

  • Pride Festival

    Our multi-day celebration featuring drag, live performance, social events, outdoor activities, speaker events, markets, nightlife, and community gatherings.

  • Year-Round 2SLGBTQIA+ Community Programming

    Regular events such as Beers for Queers (monthly), drag and burlesque shows (After Hours - This is our late night event series), craft nights, film screenings, comedy, concerts, BBQs, and community meetups.

  • Inclusive Tourism

    Position Banff and the Bow Valley as welcoming destinations for 2SLGBTQIA+ visitors, while working with tourism partners to strengthen inclusive visitor experiences.

  • The outdoors forall

    Pride OUTdoors and related programming that helps 2SLGBTQIA+ residents and visitors connect through outdoor activities in Banff National Park and the Bow Valley.

  • Regional Research and Community Insight

    Community assessments, inclusion reports, housing research, and regional data to inform programming, advocacy, grant writing, and policy conversations.

  • Two-Spirit and Indigenous-Led Programming

    Creates space for Indigenous artists, performers, Elders, Knowledge Holders, and Two-Spirit voices through events, education, and community partnerships.

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ Artist and Vendor Support

    Creates paid, visible, and accessible opportunities for 2SLGBTQIA+ artists, makers, performers, entrepreneurs, and vendors in the Bow Valley through markets, festival programming, pop-ups, merchandise partnerships, and community events. This work helps strengthen the local creative economy while increasing representation and connection for queer and trans creators.*this includes our participation in the Banff Farmers’ Market and our own pop-up markets.

  • Advocacy

    In collaboration with Bow Valley Pride Network, we advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion across local decision-making, community planning, housing, tourism, business, and social well-being. This work also includes supporting inclusive businesses, workplace equity, regional collaboration, and entrepreneurship, while delivering practical DEI training, workshops, and resources that help organizations build safer, more inclusive environments.

A PURPOSEFUL COMMITMENT
Board members contribute 5 – 10 hours monthly. Attending board and committee meetings, participate in community events, and support ongoing initiatives. Board members are expected to actively contribute during the Banff Pride Festival each fall.

Board Members play a crucial role in the success of Banff Pride. This involves actively participating in board and committee meetings, contributing to policy development and implementation, supporting programs and events, engaging in fundraising efforts, reviewing financial activities, and representing Banff Pride in the community.

If you have a background in communications, event management, advocacy, non-profit governance, or 2SLGBTQIA+ community involvement, we want you to be part of our dream team!

Board members should have experience in and a passion for:

  • Communications, marketing, media, or public relations

  • Event management, including volunteer coordination, sponsorship, production, and logistics

  • Planning and executing advocacy strategies and campaigns

  • Non-profit governance, financial literacy, and administration
