OUR VISION

Banff Pride Society aims to create a diverse, inclusive and safe community for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to visit and call home.

OUR PURPOSE

Banff Pride creates opportunities to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ people of the Bow Valley and build connections for a strong community free of discrimination against gender identity, gender and sexual expression, and sexual orientation. Using the resources and power we have to educate the wider community on how to support and empower queer people, identify barriers for the queer community, and work to dismantle these barriers.

OUR VALUES

  • Empathy

Everything we do is rooted in care and empathy for the 2SLGBTQIA+ experience, and how this is a unique experience within the Bow Valley.

  • Patience & Commitment

We recognize that patience and commitment is required to complete this work. As our organization’s resources and capacity ebb and flow over time, staying on our path and committing to this work helps us succeed in the long term.

  • Community-Building

Building a strong and connected community of support and visibility for queer people is the foundation of everything we do.

  • Intersectionality

We honour our responsibility as stewards and representatives of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in the Bow Valley by including the voices and perspectives that reflect the rich diversity of our community.

  • Community-Informed

To make decisions that support our community, we must listen to our community. We endeavour to make all our decisions based on community input and data from our community members.

  • Inclusive Hospitality

We recognize our unique position within a world class tourism destination and know that helping create an inclusive and welcoming tourism experience is the key to our success.
