Banff Pride Climbing Clinic
Movement on Rock
Step onto real rock and build confidence in a supportive 2SLGBTQIA+ climbing environment.
Movement on Rock
Ready to take your climbing beyond the gym and onto real rock?
Movement on Rock is a full-day top-rope climbing clinic from Banff Pride designed for 2SLGBTQIA+ adults who want to explore outdoor climbing in a welcoming, community-focused setting. This clinic introduces participants to movement techniques used on natural rock, with a focus on adapting to the terrain, building body awareness, and growing confidence outdoors.
Participants will learn and practice foundational movement skills such as edging, smearing, palming, stemming, laybacking, and crack climbing while climbing on top rope in a supportive environment.
If you have climbed indoors and are curious about how those skills translate outside, this clinic is a great next step. Real rock has its own personality. Luckily, so do climbers.

Why Join Banff Pride for Outdoor Climbing?
Banff Pride’s outdoor programs are about more than recreation. They create space for 2SLGBTQIA+ people to connect, build confidence, and experience the outdoors in community.
Outdoor climbing can feel intimidating when you are new to it or when you do not always see yourself reflected in these spaces. This clinic is designed to offer something different: a supportive, skill-building day where participants can learn on real rock with expert guidance and community around them.
Expect encouragement, practical learning, fresh mountain air, and maybe a few “oh wow, I actually did that” moments.
Accessibility and Support
Our goal is to make this day as accessible and friendly as possible. If you are curious about whether this clinic is right for you, we encourage you to reach out.
